Step Three
Specialty Consumer Reporting Companies
The same law that gives you a free annual credit report from the largest three credit reporting bureaus (FACTA) also applies to other consumer data aggregators known as Specialty Consumer Reporting Companies.
Most people do not realize that these companies even exist, however they are used by businesses who want to have additional information on you that is not usually contained on credit reports. The good news is that these additional information sources are another opportunity for you to determine if there is anybody else using your identity.
What information you may ask?
Employment background checks,
Tenant rental history,
Insurance claims history,
Medical information,
Criminal history,
Check writing history,
and more.
We have pulled together contact information to request an annual report from companies that are tracking this information on you. These reports, like credit reports, will show you if somebody is using your identity to rent a home, had medical tests done, wrote bad checks, or even committed a crime. Like credit reports, they may just contain errors. So it is a good idea to request these reports to make sure all the information is accurate and is indeed yours.
Each Specialty Consumer Reporting Company is listed on the left as menu choices.
